Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Crypto Converter app for iPhone and Apple Watch, its widgets and its Siri shortcuts collect, why, and what choices you have. Crypto Converter is published by San Thu Gao (“we”, “us”).
What we collect
| Data | Why | Processed by |
|---|---|---|
| A random anonymous user ID created on first launch | To link your subscription and crash reports without an account | Google Firebase Authentication |
| Subscription status and purchase history (product, dates, price, country) | To unlock Pro, restore purchases and keep earlier subscriptions working | RevenueCat, Apple |
| A small user record: Pro status, app version, platform, first and last seen dates | To support you if something goes wrong | Google Cloud Firestore |
| Usage events (for example screens opened, coins added, date picked, purchase started), a device identifier for this app (Apple's identifier for vendor, not the advertising identifier), device model, iOS version, app version, language and approximate country derived from the IP address | To understand which features people use and improve the app | Amplitude, Google Analytics for Firebase |
| Crash reports and diagnostics | To find and fix bugs | Firebase Crashlytics |
We do not collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), contacts, location, photos, or any information about crypto you own. The amounts you type are not sent to us.
Prices from CoinGecko
To show rates, the app (and its widgets and watch app) requests prices directly from CoinGecko's public API. These requests contain the coins and currencies you look up, and CoinGecko sees your device's IP address as with any web request. They contain no ID that links them to you. See coingecko.com/en/privacy.
Your list and iCloud
Your coins, saved sets, display currency and amounts are stored on your device. If you have Pro and turn on iCloud sync, your list, saved sets and display currency are stored in your own iCloud account by Apple so they appear on your other devices; we cannot see them. The Apple Watch app receives the same list from your iPhone.
Payments
Payments are handled by Apple. We never receive your card or bank details. RevenueCat receives the purchase records Apple provides so that Pro can be unlocked and restored.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers listed above, who process it on our behalf, and when required by law. Each provider is bound to use the data only to provide its service to us and to protect it at least as well as this policy and Apple's App Store requirements do. We do not sell or rent personal data and do not use it for advertising.
- Google Firebase: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Amplitude: amplitude.com/privacy
- RevenueCat: revenuecat.com/privacy
These providers may process data in the United States and other countries.
How long we keep it
We keep your user record and purchase history for as long as you use the app, or until you delete your data in the app, and as needed to honor your purchases. Analytics events are kept for up to 14 months in Google Analytics and for the retention period configured in Amplitude, after which they are deleted or aggregated. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.
Your choices and rights
You can turn off usage analytics at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy → Share usage analytics. Amplitude and Google Analytics then receive no further events from your device; crash reports are still sent so we can fix bugs.
To delete the data linked to your anonymous ID, use Settings → Privacy → Delete my data in the app. It removes your user record, resets your analytics identity, signs the device out of its purchase record and gives it a new anonymous ID; a Pro subscription stays with your Apple Account and can be restored. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you can also ask us to access or correct that data, or object to its processing, and you can still request deletion by email: use Settings → Contact support in the app (it adds your anonymous User ID to the email) or write to santhugao@gmail.com. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device; it does not cancel a subscription, which you manage in your Apple Account settings.
Children
Crypto Converter is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the related data.
Changes
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
